Project Overview

Overview

The Daram Khola Hydroelectric Project is a 9.6 MW run-of-river hydropower project located in the Gandaki Privince of Nepal. The Project harnesses the natural flow of the Daram Khola River to generate clean, renewable electricity and contribute to the national power supply. Designed to utilize Nepal's abundant water resources, the project operates by diverting river water through an intake system and conveying it via a headrace and penstock to the powerhouse. The flowing water drives turbines connected to generators that produce electricity, which is then transmitted to the national grid managed by the Nepal Electricity Authority. With an installed capacity of 9.6 MW, the project plays an important role in supporting Nepal's growing energy demand while promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly power generation. As a run-of-river system, it minimizes environmental impact by returning the water back to the river after electricity generation. The Daram Khola Hydroelectric Project reflects Nepal's commitment to renewable energy development, helping strengthen the country's energy security while supporting local economic growth and infrastructure development.
